CEO & Founder
Krysten Sjogren is an interior stylist with over 10 years experience in residential and hospitality, and a seasoned, 15-year marketer who made her mark in the short term rental world by transforming over 100 properties through On Design Interiors. In 2017, Krysten and her husband, Michael Sjogren, founded Occupied, LLC, a national short-term rental and management company. They have a portfolio of over 100 short-term rental properties across four states, including three boutique hotels on Boston’s North Shore. Having a background in designing interiors for multifamily communities, Krysten transitioned her focus to updating the properties in their portfolio. This quickly expanded as she realized she had a passion for helping other hosts bring their tired listings to life. In 2020, Krysten founded On Design Interiors LLC, a boutique interior design studio specializing in curating short-term rentals, boutique hotels, multi family apartment communities, model homes, and commercial spaces where designs have been featured by major brands across the country, including Wayfair, Pottery Barn, West Elm, Ashley Home Stores and Sherwin Williams. She leads a team of stylists to execute their ever growing list of new projects.
Krysten’s style blends vibrant modern decor with bohemian and coastal elements. Whether designing an oceanfront boutique hotel or a mountainside chalet, Krysten and her team are inspired by the local culture, nature, and historic charm surrounding the property. Being a true marketer, she also focuses on creating editorial designs that attract new guests while standing out from the competition online. Each property Krysten’s team curates is unique, bringing in different textures, a fresh color palette, and of course their staple social media moments.
When not designing, Krysten enjoys spending time with family and friends. By day she’s a multi-business owner, strategic marketer, mom, coffee lover, and an outdoorsy kind of gal. By night, Krysten enjoys relaxing by the fire watching HGTV (and maybe a glass of wine). From hiking in the mountains of NH to running up and down the soccer field coaching her son’s soccer team, Krysten’s life is fulfilled by making memories with family and friends.
Director of Marketing & Design
Heather Phillips is Director of Marketing and Design for On Design Interiors, a dream career that perfectly blends her passions and diverse background. She has been involved as a contract designer since On Design’s inception in 2020, making it official by transitioning to full time in early 2022. Prior to then, Heather spent 14 years in property management and marketing. She has been styling professionally since 2005 when she started a consulting, interior painting, personal shopping, and home staging service. Additionally, a lifelong love of the theatre has allowed her to hone wildly imaginative designs through set dressing, costume, and stage design.
Heather’s specialty is creating playfully immersive, “Instagram-worthy” theme rooms for guests of all ages, a skill that allows her eccentric side to shine. She loves researching new locations and finding quirky ways to wow visitors. When not transporting guests under the sea or up in the stars, her eclectic style is often influenced by global elements, rich textures, and a touch of sparkle.
In her free time, Heather can be found globetrotting, singing in a local cabaret or karaoke night, and crafting up a storm with her beloved fur baby by her side.
Joining the On Design team at the start of 2023, Beth comes with an array of skills and knowledge that has made our team whole. Beth has over 10 years of marketing and business management experience, with a degree in both. A significant part of her experience was gained through managing, implementing strategies, marketing, and budgeting a successful yoga studio in which she wore many (very stylish) hats. She has an entrepreneurial spirit and a creative mind bringing a sophisticated, boho style to the design team. Beth is also the creative mastermind behind On Design's savvy and fun social posts, as well as the voice of our design blog.
When she is not focused on work, she and her husband love spending time in their vintage camper, traveling the East Coast with their beloved chihuahua Lola, and tackling many creative DIY projects.
Marketing & Administrative Assistant
Amanda Finnegan is On Design’s Lead Designer and the visionary behind many of the designs in our portfolio. She has been with On Design for two years, but has had a passion for design her entire life. A creative at heart, Amanda spent much of her childhood watching HGTV, when there were still gardening shows on the network! She even used her first library card to borrow books featuring architectural floor plans to choose the perfect layout for her “dream home”. Amanda received her bachelors degree in Public Relations and has an MBA in Marketing. In the past, she has worked in higher education, event planning, and banking.
Born and raised on the North Shore of Massachusetts, she still lives in the area with her husband and two young, energetic kiddos, ages 5 and 2.
